【上海冬天】长夜里的邂逅

Was in Shanghai for a night last month, second visit to Shanghai. Little has changed, even the shop that sold me my remote control helicoptor is still there. Only that it has evolved to selling drones.

Walked to the Bund from Nanjing Road as usual, and it was especially soothing. The gentle breeze on your face, well paved roads. Very modernised city.

Spent the night at Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park and it was pretty good. Had a good night sleep! =)

I wish Shanghai has more 'olden day' stuff like heritage architecture. Apart from those vendors selling carved stone stamps and paper cutting art, there really isn't strong sense of 'China' left. But Shanghai being Shanghai, it is good as it is! If tourists wanted a more heritage feel, they'll probably head to Hangzhou instead isn't it?

Alright, random. But I like that "Yao Ju" words on the building. It is so huge, it reminded me of Fook Hai Building in Singapore where Chan Brothers have a really huge logo outside.

Ps: Not a sponsored post.

【北京冬天】继续接地气

Was in Beijing for two nights and very blessed to have my local friends show me around under the Supermoon! Yes, was really fortunate to catch the Supermoon in Beijing, especially clear at the Qian Hai area where I had some delicious Beijing Roast Duck at Quan Ju De =)

To top it off, my friends brought me around to Jie Di Qi (connect to local behaviours). Walked around the university campus, went to Hu Tongs, and immersed ourselves in the trending cafe culture there.

Visit to any countries wouldn't be complete without making a trip to their convenience stores! So on the first night in Beijing, my university mate wanted to bring me out for supper but I was seriously too full for another full meal. Subsequently she wanted to let me try their UberEats and Deliveroo equivalent app but really, no thanks! Quota max.

Went for a short walk around Chaoyang area near my hotel and managed to locate a convenience store. Beer is quite cheap there, like less than SGD$2. But being the #fatahbeng I am, just couldn't settle for less. I just had to try this craft beer from Nanjing which is a Jasmine Tea Lager complete with very contemporary Chinese packaging. Nice.

My friend insisted that I take a photo of the beautiful can at somewhere with nicer background but I simply could wait no more. Had to do it right outside the convenience store.

This can is about SGD$7+, but i thoroughly enjoyed the strong malt flavours backed by a hint of green tea.

My friend called my 小吃货 and insisted that i must try the jian bing from street vendors =) it is about SGD$1 for a big piece of jian bing filled with several ingredients including Chinese crullers, preserved vegetables, seafood sauce, fried crispies, coriander and such.

beer and jian bing goes really well for supper. apparently they eat jian bing for breakfast too! maybe for breakfast you will have to go with soya bean milk?

一手煎饼、一手佳酿,何不为人间乐事?
