Plastic bag shortage spells marketing trouble at Giant

So I noticed these few days that there has been a shortage of Giant plastic bags at the 24hr supermarket just opposite my house.

This breeds bad, bad news seriously from both the retailer and consumer side.

1. The signature transparent plastic bag with green Giant logo is an icon and advertising tool of the chain itself. How much btl advertising is generated through this? Go figure.

2. I would rather be seen carrying their iconic plastic bags then the one of inferior quality and has the singa head printed on it. This is a market position that they have established and simply can't do without their plastic bags.

3. How can such a massive chain be short of plastic bags? What's with its supply issue? Even if the main supplier has problem with the turn over volume, is there no back up supplier? Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Even if you have to, there is a need to mitigate such situations.

5. At least provide plastic bags of higher quality. You sell groceries and such, not light weight items like paper. After checking out at the cashier, my pack of 6 can drinks were placed in the said plastic bags and I couldn't help but to hug the bag home as it felt as if it was due to give way any time.

This is simply bad. I am unimpressed. I hope the regular supplies get restocked soon.
